Perhaps the best day so far...

Hi!

I know I said I would update this regularly and I promise I will, this week has been crazy! A few days ago, my friend Sal came into my room and asked me if I knew who Ungaro was, to which I replied "THE FASHION HOUSE!?!?!?! THE ONE THAT LINDSAY LOHAN IS WORKING FOR NOW?!" and he said "ummmmm I guess, I didn't think anyone knew what that was". So Sal begins telling me that one of his close family friends owns the company (!!!) and he was invited to the fashion show on Sunday. Previously, my itinerary for fashion week was going to include waiting outside the big shows to spot any celebrities, and when the possibility of attending a show came up, I pretty much had a heart attack.

After my initial freak-out session, Sal invited me to the show!

So, this week included me running all around Paris, trying to find an outfit to wear to the show, and getting lost while looking for Ungaro headquarters, where we picked up the tickets. Here are the outfits we decided on:

We didn't get kicked out and they still let us backstage (!!!!) so we must have done something right.

Here's a picture of inside the tent, the show took place inside the Louvre, which was a very fun venue, lots of people waiting outside the entrance to sneak a peak at Lindsay.

The show was awesome! Very dramatic, the lights went down, the entrance to the runway was the only thing lit up (hot pink, of course), the music started, and the models began walking. All of the clothes were very young looking, almost non-existent hemlines, bright colors, and super tight dresses, the whole time I was in heaven! On our way back to the apartments Sal and I talked about how we felt like we were living in other people's lives for the past couple hours. We have no idea how celebrities can see at all, there were a few paparazzi in front of us for awhile, taking pictures of Lindsay's sister, Ali, and our eyes are still burning!

So after the show, Sal's friends gave us permission to go backstage, where my camera immediately ran out of batteries (of course, just my luck). I did snag a couple pictures though.

This one is the picture board of the models and the looks they wore for the show. After years of seeing pictures of these boards in magazines, it was fun to see one in real life!

This is the best shot I could get of Lindsay Lohan, there was paparazzi all around her, and by the time we got closer, my camera was out of batteries. My friends here keep asking Sal and me what she looks like, and honestly, it was very under-whelming to see her. She is WAY WAY WAY too thin and really didn't look happy to be there at all. It was still fun to see her though, she's the second blonde, next to the brunette (who is the actual designer).

After spending hours in my life going through fashion magazines, watching Project Runway, and attending fashion week through the Internet, it was an amazing experience to actually be there! Seeing models walk in designs that are brand new was something that I will never forget. I even got some free Ungaro perfume in a gift bag! I'm still going to stand outside of the other shows for the rest of the week (Chanel is tomorrow!), but it's definitely fun knowing what it's actually like inside!

Hope everything is going well back home!

I'm finally catching up with everyone!

Hi everyone!
I'm completely new to this blogging thing, so please bear with me if it looks ridiculous or totally incomprehensible!

I've been in Paris for about a month now and I'm having a BLAST! Every day I try to get out and do something French, whether it's going to the Louvre for an hour or doing homework at the Luxembourg Gardens (home of my favorite spot in the world now: The Medici Fountain).

I live in an apartment about 35 minutes away from Paris, in a suburb called Boulogne. My apartment is MUCH MUCH larger than I thought it would be, and looks down on an adorable plaza, complete with a French movie theater and typical French cafés (just like a postcard!).

The atmosphere here is amazing. Every day the ride on the metro is more like a fashion show than a commute, I have no idea how all of these French women survive in stilettos all day, but the majority seem to do it! My friends and I still haven't gotten over the romance of the city, couples kissing all over the place- not just tourists under the Eiffel Tower, but French couples in the metro, on street corners, and park benches!

I'm going to keep this updated whenever I have fun pictures or stories to share! Here's a sampling of what I've been doing lately...

The Medici Fountain, absolutely stunning,
especially with the leaves changing for fall

My room in Boulogne!
Pretty stark, but I'm not spending much time there anyways!

More to come soon!
